All small business management units are self-paced. You can work at your
own pace and submit the assignments when you feel ready. However, it is important
to set yourself some clear study goals.
Each unit has a "Nominal Duration". That is, the number of study
hours the average person would take to complete the performance criteria.
This can vary greatly between students and depends on your motivation, your
study skills, and your experience in the topic. The figure should be taken
as a guide only. It is useful to help you calculate study loads.
For example, if you can only devote five hours a week to study, it will take
you eight weeks to complete a 40 hour unit. This could be a combination of
class time and home study, or you could choose to study only at home.
When choosing the units you wish to study this year, draw up a realistic
study plan. Your tutor will help you set due dates for assignments and work
with you to keep you on track.
You will be expected to complete any unit in which you enrol this year by
December this year.
