Assessment

We believe that learning should take place within the context of running a small business. Therefore, assessments require students to apply their knowledge and skills to their own business or business idea, or in a simulated business environment using a case study. In this way, the training is directly relevant to your situation and you should see immediate benefit from your studies.

Assessment will take the form of written assignments. There are no exams.

TAFE SA takes into account any special needs of students so special consideration can be negotiated.

STATUS (for previous studies) and Skills Recognition

Mutual Recognition

You may apply for exemption from part or the entire course as a result of prior studies completed at school, TAFE, university, private colleges or other educational institutions where a formal arrange-ment exists. Documentary evidence must accompany the application, which can be obtained from the Small Business Training Centre.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Not everyone enrolling in a TAFE course is a real beginner. If you already have competence in an area of small business management, you can ask to have those skills recognised. This is done through a formal assessment of your prior formal or informal study, work experience, training and life experience.

Documentary evidence must be provided. An application form can be obtained from the Small Business Training Centre. A fee applies for this service.
