Control of finances is a critical element in the success of a small
business. This unit covers three main aspects of financial planning
- planning for profit, planning the financial structure of your business
and planning for cash flow. You will gain the skills necessary to project
profits and to develop a financial plan for your own business or intended
business.
Specific topics include understanding costs and how to ensure full
recovery of costs in your pricing strategy, costing for different industries,
breakeven analysis and profit projection. Other aspects covered include
an understanding of equity and loan capital, assets, working capital
and the cash flow cycle.
You will also learn how to estimate the funds needed in small business
and how to identify and compare the types and sources of funds available
as well as how to make an application for finance. In addition you will
learn how to prepare a cash flow forecast.
