Computerised Accounting with MYOB

(FNBACC21A Set-up and Operate a Computerised Accounting System)

Save time and money by computerising your accounting system. In this unit you will learn how to set up and operate the MYOB computerised accounting package.

At the completion of this unit, in conjunction with your accountant, you should be able to set up a business accounting system, create a chart of accounts, set up and maintain customer, supplier and inventory records, process cash and credit transactions, complete a bank reconciliation, account for GST and produce a variety of financial reports, including GST reports.

This unit assumes you have some knowledge of double entry accounting or have completed the unit 'Maintain Financial Records'. You must also be able to operate a computer competently.

Study materials include a tutorial manual and test-drive software supplied on CD Rom. If you wish to study at home you should check with us regarding the hardware

Maintain Financial Records

(BSBCMN308A Maintain Financial Records)

Good business management depends on accurate information. Whether you intend to use a manual or computerised accounting system, this unit will provide you with the skills necessary to prepare accurate financial records and the knowledge to understand them.

You will learn how to set up and maintain a simple manual bookkeeping system that will provide essential financial information and deal with GST. Topics covered include sales analysis, cash receipts and payments, procedures to control debtors and creditors, bank reconciliation and accounting for GST.

You will then be introduced to some simple double entry accounting. Should you wish to keep your records using a computerised accounting package you will then have a better understanding of debits and credits and what is happening 'behind the scenes'.

This unit is ideal for those with no experience in bookkeeping and those who want to understand the requirements of the tax system. Note that you will require the competencies covered in this unit if you intend to complete 'Computerised Accounting with MYOB'.
